For a sophisticated Sunday morning in Walt Disney World I highly recommend Narcoossee’s at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Narcoossee’s began serving Sunday brunch in late 2015 and I’ve been lucky enough to attend twice now. My first visit visit was in November 2016 the morning after running in the Inaugural Wine and Dine 10k and my second visit was this February on RunDisney’s Princess weekend. Running in Disney is becoming a habit for me and pairing it with delicious meals even moreso!
The first time I brunched was with my mom. We did not know what to expect or realize it was a multi course prefix meal full of food. We booked the earliest reservation and had also planned a lunch reservation for Disney Springs; however lunch didn’t happen… I’m not sure I ate again until dinner! For my second visit I was more prepared. One of my best girlfriends and I struggled through the RunDisney Disney Princess Half Marathon traffic to enjoy brunch before our resort pool day.
What’s Brunch without a Cocktail?
Brunch includes your own selected appetizer and entrée plus a pastry dish for the table to share and a trio of desserts. If you are of age you can indulge in bottomless mimosas or Bellini’s in addition to unlimited juice, coffee, and tea. For those of you Bloody Mary lovers out there, Narcoossee’s didn’t forget about you. Your brunch can be accompanied by just one gourmet Bloody Mary but that’s all you’ll need. Ours included a king crab leg, cocktail shrimp, and blue cheese stuffed olive in addition to the typical carrots and celery. It can be a meal in itself! I highly recommend starting with the Bloody Mary and then trying a mimosa or Bellini afterwards!
It was no surprise that there were some indulgent dishes on the menu. After all, Narcooseee’s is known for its surf and turf dinner options in a beautiful location on the Seven Seas Lagoon. From the lobster eggs Benedict to steak & eggs or brioche French toast there are dishes to satisfy everyone’s palette. Of course, the great food is paired with superior service and presented beautifully. What more can you ask for?
I’ve had the Croque Madame and the Steak & Eggs, while both my mom and friend had the Lobster Eggs Benedict. The steak and eggs comes with homefries, and is prepared to your liking. You can’t go wrong with this option. Personally, I wasn’t a huge fan of the Croque Madame. I was envisioning a flattened grilled cheese with prosciutto topped with eggs but it was wasn’t as such. The brioche was slightly browned on one end, but not grilled throughout and the cheese was hardly melted. The flavors were good, just not what I envisioned. Next time I am definitely trying the Chicken & Waffles!
Following dinner you will share a Trio of Desserts that comes with a lemon blueberry cake, orange layer bar, and triple chocolate cake. The presentation is beautiful and elegant. Narcoossee’s used to provide a full white chocolate Minnie for garnish but has since stopped. While it’s a cute touch, there weren’t very many being eaten so they decided to cut back. No sense wasting food, kudos to the culinary team there!
In Your Wallet
Some may say the price is steep at $65 per person but brunch at Narcooseee’s is more than just a meal. For the amount of food this covers your breakfast and lunch plus don’t forget the bottomless drinks! If you’re eating on property you’d surely spend more than that on two meals and alcohol. Plus the experience of dining in an octagon shaped, open air feel, bright restaurant seeing Magic Kingdom in the distance is unmatched throughout the property. Put on your favorite floral dress or khakis and head over to the Grand for this start to your very dapper day!
Reservations using your MyDisney app or website are highly recommended for brunch. Seatings begin at 9:30 AM and run through 2 PM. Technically, brunch doesn’t start until 10 but you can occasionally reserve earlier times. The dining room fills in as the morning progresses so I prefer visiting early for a quieter experience. Keep in mind that Narcoossee’s is one of the restaurants on property that has a dress code so be sure to check this ahead of time. If you are traveling to the Grand from another resort be sure to allow adequate time to arrive there using the Disney provided transportation system.
